Journey
Known for his intricate blend of kizomba, soul, and afrobeats, Dotti The Deity, born Okeowo Oladotun Alani on July 20, 1994, in Ibadan, Nigeria, has crafted a distinctive sound resonating with cultural depth and artistic innovation. Relocating to Lagos to live with his grandparents catalyzed his musical journey, with Dotti penning his first song at just six years old. A graduate of The Polytechnic, Ibadan with a National Diploma in Music Technology, his academic background laid a foundation for his signature 'Nu Age Folk' sound—a melodic fusion imbued with Nigerian folk rhythms, Yoruba cosmology, and contemporary soul and jazz influences. Since debuting professionally in 2019, Dotti captured attention by triumphing at the MTN Y'ello Star competition in 2021, a milestone that solidified his status in the music scene. His celebrated single 'Forever Sweet' became a wedding anthem and a sonic staple with its inclusion in the film 'Breath of Life'. Following up with the critically acclaimed EP 'For You Knew Me' in 2023, Dotti continues to innovate. His roster of musical influences includes Asa, Lagbaja, and King Sunny Ade, while collaborations with Nigerian luminaries like Cobhams Asuquo and Falz underscore his versatile artistry. Beyond personal projects, he contributes to prominent campaigns, adding commercial depth to his artistic repertoire.
